The Brand Design unit somewhat caught me by surprise. Learning things like typography and Photoshop made sense to me for a class like this, but I never really thought about designing a brand. That said, I think this was the most enjoyable (and most challenging) project I've done in this class. As a marketing major aspiring to become a product or brand manager, creating a project like this is exactly what I need to develop a marketable and transferrable skillset for my future career.

This project focused on creating three main things: a brand idea, a logo, and a style guide. My team and I decided to make an app called BARK! - an amalgamation of the best parts of Reddit and YikYak, but designed specifically for UGA students. Creating the idea for the app and design concepts for it were easy, but designing the logo and style guide were honestly very challenging for my team and I. We had to use Adobe Illustrator to design the logo, which is something we did not have much experience in. Due to our lack of experience, it took upwards of 11 hours over the course of two days to develop the logo. And while it was painful, we were very proud of the end result. I think it looks very polished and represents the brand perfectly.

The style guide was made using Canva, and it was also very challenging on its own due to the sheer amount of detail necessary to create a complete style guide. It was shocking to discover just how much detail brands go into when developing style guides, but now I completely understand it. Creating a brand takes so much time and effort and deserves to be protected and displayed correctly no matter where it's being used.
